NIFROCLIM kickoff meeting: Starting an interdisciplinary Sino-German project on permafrost biogeochemistry

Building on a long tradition of Sino-German cooperation between IAP-CAS and IMK-IFU that persists since several generations of scientists, the NIFROCLIM project was launched with the Kickoff Meeting from July 18-20, 2019 in the Golden Horse Hotel in Mohe. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Chunyan Liu (IAP CAS), Prof. Dr. Xunhua Zheng (IAP CAS), Prof. Dr. Klaus Butterbach-Bahl (KIT IMK-IFU), Prof. Jianwei Wang (Northeast University), Prof. Zhisheng Yao (IAP-CAS), Prof. Shan Lin (CAU), PD Dr. Carsten Müller (TUM), Hongyu Yue (PhD student), PD Dr. Michael Dannenmann, and Dr. Silvia Gschwendtner (HMGU). The kickoff meeting highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the project and that NIFROCLIM is seen as a platform for international cooperation on permafrost research in China, Germany and beyond.
